Cancelling & editing bets
Every bet you’ve placed lives at /orders (also called Open Bets). It’s the single page for monitoring, cancelling, and reviewing your exposure across every market — not just the one you’re currently looking at.
The filter rail
Four chips at the top:
- All — every bet, matched and unmatched
- Unmatched — bets sitting in the queue waiting to match (includes partial fills)
- Matched — fully matched bets (includes partial fills)
- Settled — coming soon — settled bets after the market closes
Tap a chip to filter. Counts next to each chip update live as bets match.
Market group cards
Bets are grouped by market — one card per market. Each card shows:
- Race time / event name —
16:00 Fakenhamfor racing or justFulham v Aston Villafor matches - Market name — Match Odds, Win Market, etc.
- Bet count + unmatched count — at a glance
- A chevron to expand or collapse the card
Tapping the header expands the card and shows the bets inside.
Bet rows
Each row in an expanded card shows one of your bets:
- Side stripe — 3px coloured bar on the left. Blue = back, pink = lay.
- BACK / LAY label + runner name
- Status badge:
- MATCHED (green) — fully filled
- UNMATCHED (gold, pulsing dot) — waiting in the queue
- N% MATCHED (gold) — partially filled, with a progress bar showing the split
- Three-column tabular row — Odds / Stake / Returns or Liability
- Footer — timestamp on the right; a Cancel button on unmatched and partial bets
Cancelling
For an unmatched or partial bet, tap Cancel on the row. The unmatched portion is pulled from the queue and the bet drops to either MATCHED (if it had a partial fill) or disappears (if nothing was matched). Refunded stake returns to your Betfair wallet.
If a market has ≥2 unmatched bets, the group card footer shows a Cancel all unmatched button — useful when you’ve fired multiple speculative orders and want to clear them in one shot.
Average Odds toggle
When you have two or more matched bets on the same selection on the same side (e.g. you backed Aston Villa £2 at 2.62 and again £5 at 2.55), the group header shows an Average Odds toggle.
With it off: each bet shows as its own row at its own price.
With it on: bets that match the same selection + side get collapsed into one row showing:
- The stake-weighted average odds across the bets
- The total stake combined
- The total returns / liability at the average odds
- A ”Nx AVG” pill plus a strip of chips showing the underlying stakes and prices
It’s purely a display option — toggling doesn’t change anything on Betfair, just how B&L presents the matched bets to you. Useful for traders who scale into positions with multiple stakes and want to see their effective average price.
Partial fills
If a bet partially matched (e.g. £5 stake, £3 matched), you’ll see:
- The status badge shows 60% MATCHED
- A progress bar shows the split: £3 matched / £2 unmatched
- The row stays in both Unmatched and Matched filters until fully filled or cancelled
Cancelling a partial pulls the unmatched £2 from the queue; the £3 already-matched stays as a normal matched bet.
View market
Each card has a View market link that takes you back to the underlying market detail page — useful when you want to look at the live ladder for a position you’re managing.
