Terms and Conditions
These terms govern your use of Bets & Ladders ("B&L", "the Service", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Early-access note: we are not currently taking payments, and there is no fixed end date for this. The Service is free during early access — every user is auto-enrolled on the Trader plan, free of charge, with no card required. Sections 3–5 describe what would apply only if we introduce paid plans in future; we will give at least 30 days' notice before any charge could be taken.
1. The service we provide
Bets & Ladders is a web-based trading interface for the Betfair Exchange, operated by Gsoft Solutions Ltd (a company registered in England and Wales, number 07457304) ("the Provider") under a Betfair Software Vendor Licence. B&L lets you browse markets, view ladders, place and manage bets, and cash out positions. All bets you place through B&L are placed on your own Betfair account using your Betfair OAuth authorisation.
B&L does not hold customer funds, accept stakes, or operate any gambling activity itself. Betfair is the licensed operator and the counterparty to all bets.
2. Eligibility
To use B&L you must:
- Be aged 18 or over;
- Hold an active Betfair account in your own name and in good standing;
- Have legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction;
- Be resident in a jurisdiction where use of the Betfair Exchange is lawful.
Account access is via Betfair OAuth — your Betfair-issued vendor client ID becomes your B&L user identifier. We never see, store, or process your Betfair username or password.
3. Plans and access tiers
B&L is offered in two tiers:
- Free — always available. Includes up to 100 bet placements per calendar month (UTC). The allowance resets on the 1st of each month. Cancellations do not count against the allowance.
- Trader — unlimited bet placements. During early access every user is auto-enrolled as Trader free of charge, with no fixed end date and no card required. If we introduce paid plans in future, we will announce the price at least 30 days beforehand, and you will be able to choose whether to continue on a paid Trader plan or move to the Free tier.
No prices apply during early access. Any future paid pricing will be shown in pounds sterling and include UK VAT at the prevailing rate, with at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect. No annual prepayment option is currently offered.
4. Payments (when paid plans launch)
Not currently in effect. When paid plans launch, payments will be taken via a payment provider to be confirmed. We will not collect or store card details, bank login credentials, IBAN, or sort-code/account numbers. Each charge will be authorised through the chosen provider's flow.
A VAT-compliant invoice will be generated for every successful charge and sent to the email address registered on your B&L account.
If a charge fails (insufficient funds, payment method declined), the subscription will enter a "past due" state. We will retry the charge automatically. After three consecutive failures, the subscription is cancelled and access is moved back to the Free tier.
5. Cancellation and downgrade
You may move between tiers at any time:
- Early-access members (accounts created before paid plans launched): Trader remains free for your launch period — changes between tiers take effect immediately from the Plan page within B&L.
- Paid Trader subscriptions: cancellation from the Plan page takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you keep Trader access until then, and then move to the Free plan. Manage, switch between monthly and annual, or cancel any time via the Plan page (handled by Stripe's secure portal).
Subscription fees are non-refundable for the remainder of any period already paid for. We do not offer pro-rata refunds. We may, at our discretion, refund charges that result from technical errors on our part (for example, duplicate billing).
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use B&L for any unlawful purpose or in breach of Betfair's own terms of use;
- Resell, redistribute, sub-licence, or share access to your B&L account with any other person;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service;
- Scrape, harvest, or otherwise systematically extract data from the Service beyond your own personal use;
- Interfere with the operation of the Service, attempt to bypass access controls, or place automated load on our infrastructure beyond normal single-user activity;
- Use B&L on behalf of a person other than yourself, or on a Betfair account that is not in your own name.
Breach of this section may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.
7. Responsible gambling
Gambling can be addictive. B&L is a tool for placing bets — it does not change the risks of gambling. We expect you to use the Service responsibly. Betfair's deposit limits, time-out, and self-exclusion tools apply to all activity through B&L. See our responsible gambling page for signposting to support services including BeGambleAware, GamCare, and GAMSTOP.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content, is owned by Gsoft Solutions Ltd or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your personal trading on Betfair Exchange, for the duration of your subscription.
Your bets, trading history, and account preferences belong to you. We process them only as needed to provide the Service.
9. No advice; betting risk
Nothing in B&L constitutes financial, betting, or trading advice. All decisions to back, lay, cash out, or trade are yours alone. We make no representation that any market, runner, or strategy will produce a profit. You may lose some or all of any amount staked.
10. Live scores and match data
Where B&L displays live scores, match clocks, in-play status, or other event information, this data is sourced from third-party sports-data providers and is shown for general information only. It is not provided by Betfair and does not form part of the betting market.
We do not control this data and cannot guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Scores and match times may be delayed, incomplete, incorrect, or temporarily unavailable, and may differ from the official result or from Betfair's own data. You must not rely on the scores or match information shown in B&L when deciding whether or how to bet — always verify against the official source and the live market on Betfair.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss arising from your reliance on live scores or match data displayed in the Service, including any loss caused by delay, error, or omission in that data.
11. Service availability and limitation of liability
We aim to keep the Service available but make no guarantee of uninterrupted access. The Service depends on third-party providers (Betfair, TrueLayer, Firebase/Google, Zoho, and a sports-data provider for live scores) and on your own internet connection. Outages or degraded performance in any of these may affect B&L.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither we nor our licensors, directors, employees, or agents are liable for:
- Losses arising from bets you place (including losses caused by delayed prices, missed cashouts, or failed bet placement);
- Loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, anticipated savings, or goodwill;
- Indirect, special, or consequential losses;
- Loss or corruption of data;
- Any loss arising from third-party service outages outside our control.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot be excluded by law. Our total aggregate liability to you for any matter is limited to the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
12. Termination by us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without refund, if you breach these terms, if Betfair revokes our Software Vendor Licence, or if we are required to do so by law. We may discontinue the Service on 30 days' notice; if we do, any unused portion of a paid subscription will be refunded.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published at /terms is the version in force. Material changes will be notified via email or via an in-app notice at least 30 days before the change takes effect; continued use of the Service after the change constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or the Service, save that consumers resident in another part of the United Kingdom may bring proceedings in the courts of their home jurisdiction.
15. Force majeure
We are not liable for failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including (without limitation) acts of God, war, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemic, industrial action, failure of the public internet or telecommunications, third-party service outages, or governmental action.
16. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to support@betsandladders.com. Privacy and data-protection requests are handled separately — see our privacy policy.
