One-tap mode
By default in B&L, tapping a price opens a confirm dialog asking “are you sure?” before sending the bet to Betfair. One-tap mode turns that confirmation off — a single tap fires the bet immediately at your current unit stake. Faster, but no second chance.
Where to find it
A ONE-TAP toggle sits in the staking bar at the bottom of every market and ladder screen, next to the £2/£5/£10/£25/£100 stake buttons. Off by default; tap to enable. The toggle is gold when on.
The setting persists per-user across sessions and devices.
When to use it
In-play. The big win is in fast markets — football in the last 10 minutes, racing in the closing seconds, anywhere prices move several ticks per second and a confirm dialog costs you the position.
When to leave it off
- First few sessions. Trust the flow before removing the safety net.
- Casual research / dabbling. If you’re poking at a market you’re not actively trading, one-tap creates the risk of unintended bets when you only meant to look at depth.
- Big stakes. If you’ve bumped your unit stake to £100, the confirm dialog prevents a fat-fingered tap from costing you a hundred quid.
What can go wrong
- Tapping the wrong cell. Lay column at the top, back at the bottom — a misjudged tap on a small phone places a bet you didn’t mean. With confirm on, you cancel the dialog. With one-tap, the bet’s gone — and on Betfair, you can’t un-match a matched bet, only cash out.
- Wrong stake. If you forgot you bumped the stake from £2 to £25, the next tap places £25. Confirm shows the stake; one-tap doesn’t ask.
- Suspended → resumed taps. If a market suspends, you tap a price, and it resumes a second later, the bet may go in at the new (different) price. With confirm you’d see the price; with one-tap it’s just gone.
Compromise: one-tap during in-play, off otherwise
Many traders flip one-tap on as the market goes live and back off pre-off. The toggle is a single tap so the cost is minimal. Pre-off you have time to confirm; in-play you don’t.
What one-tap doesn’t change
- It still uses your active unit stake — no different from confirm-mode.
- It still respects the SUSPENDED state — bets can’t go in on a suspended market regardless.
- It doesn’t bypass any Betfair-side checks (minimum stake, sufficient balance, valid price tick).
